I love how easy it was to connect this adapter. I literally just plugged my portable hard drive and my printer cords to this adapter, hooked it up to my PC's USB port, and boom. That's it! So simple. And I still have two more ports available to use. I'm highly satisfied.
First plugged into USB3 port and didn't work. Light turned green but nothing happened. Luckily I had a TP-Link USB2 hub and plugged it into that and no problem. 'dmesg' shows it was detected and assigned a interface. Added V4L2 capture device to sources, no config needed in OBS version 30.2.2. Plugged in VCR into the capture device and immediately got signal.
I plugged it in and my Windows 10 PC recognized it and automatically installed the drivers.I downloaded OBS (free if you didn't know) and I had to watch a few OBS videos to get my settings correct, but I had no issues.I managed to back up several 8mm tapes into digital, that I held onto for over 25+ years.The VIXLW Video Capture Card is under $10 and is a great value.
When I first hooked up my MacBook Pro to my VCR with this product, and then opened up Quick Time, it didn't recognize it. I left everything plugged in and then rebooted my MacBook and presto, I was able to choose it from the drop down menu and it worked perfectly. I'm converting all sorts of VHS tapes from the '80s and finding soooo many family treasures that I'm able to share now with family. I was super skeptical given the price of this but it works GREAT!!! USB Video and USB Digital Audio need to be selected - just need the Quick Time app - don't need special software at all.
The packaging was neat and tidy. Instructions were clear however it took me a while to set mine up. The camera was saying it was connected to the wifi but the app wasn't reading that it connected. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and it worked that time. You do not have to pay to watch your camera live!!!! Only have to subscribe if you want playback features!! And its only 1$ I believe? And you get a free 7 day trial , I did not opt for that bc I don't need a playback option I'm using mine as a baby monitor at night time. The zoom in feature is amazing I can zoom right in on my twins and see if they're eyes are open etc. the 360° feature is also amazing I can move the camera in any direction from my phone! The cord is a little short. So right now I don't have the best angle I have to get an extension set up first but once you have a good angle it's a perfect camera! Performs just as well as a 100$ cameraCustomer service is amazing. If you have any issues they are more than happy to assist you in the set up process. Would definitely recommend this seller!!!
